Meet the Team: Commercial Manager Danny
Danny brings a wealth of experience to his role as Commercial Manager at Clearhill, and has hit the ground running since joining the team recently. He aims to get around all our UK customers in the coming weeks and months, so keep an eye out for him dropping by if he hasn’t already!
How long have you worked with Clearhill?
Four weeks – it’s early days for me but I’m already enjoying being back in the leisure vending industry!
What did you do before joining Clearhill?
I began my career in customer service and sales support, before moving in recent years towards more business development and account management roles. This previously included four years within the shopping centre industry, so it’s lovely to be back and catching up with old acquaintances, as well as seeing how things have changed.
What’s your average day look like?
Covering the length and breadth of the country in my four-wheeled office, managing existing shopping centre clients whilst exploring opportunities for new centres to add to our ever growing portfolio.
How did you get into this line of work?
Completely by accident, one of the many employment agency emails to drop into my inbox struck a cord and after replying out of curiosity more than anything, I found myself embarking on a commercial career!
What personal qualities are required to do your job?
Having a fun and outgoing personality plus being able to manage relationships at all levels are a must, whilst being commercially astute and completely believing and trusting in the products you are working with.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
There are never two days or shopping centres the same and I get to meet some fantastic people from a wealth of backgrounds on a daily basis.
What do you think helps Clearhill to stand out from its competitors?
A dynamic, modern, ‘can do’ approach to leisure vending backed up by unrivalled portfolio of products. Being a family-run company, there is a huge amount of flexibility on what can be achieved, allowing the possibility to differentiate from the competition.
What was the last thing you saw/experienced in a shopping centre that really impressed you and/or created a memorable experience?
Visiting East Kilbride Shopping Centre and seeing a permanent, fully operational ice rink opening up onto one of their malls. I’ve seen diversification of a centre’s offering in many different forms but never anything like that!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
To pick your battles wisely, to never take things personally and remember that everything happens for a reason.
Danny is our UK based Commercial Manager and as such is available to meet with customers across Scotland, England and Wales.
